or any of its components and it has no governmental status.
Welcome to the website for the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Historical Society. Please excuse our "dust" as we build this website along with our society.
PURPOSE
To promote an understanding of the military history and tradition of mountain warfare, with emphasis on the historical role of the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center and the men and women who have served or trained there, through the presentations of historical displays and programs.
BUSINESS
1. Acquire manuscripts, books, relics, pictures, artifacts, memorabilia and information pertaining to the history and tradition of mountain warfare and the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center and promote and provide for their preservation, perpetuation, appropriate dissemination and display.
2. Engage in such commercial enterprises on the premises of the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center, whose sole purpose is to generate income for the support of historical research, the acquisition of historical artifacts, management and promotion of Board authorized living history programs and the presentation of historical programs and exhibits.
3. Provide support through the solicitation of funds or gifts of value for the full or partial establishment, including construction and acquisition of exhibits, of the Historical Display at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center, Pickel Meadow, California, and related historical education programs.
4. Encourage the collection, preservation, and display of historical artifacts by the Historical Display under cognizance of the Commanding Officer, Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center.
5. Sell or otherwise dispose of any of the aforementioned articles or property to which the Society retains title, with such disposal or sale to be approved by a simple majority vote of the Board of Directors.
6. Engage in and perform all other acts, which the Board considers necessary to carry out the purposes as stated in these Bylaws, so long as such acts are not inconsistent with California law and the Articles of Incorporation.
